RCD-Goma rebels “expel” members

During a meeting on Friday of the founding members of the Goma-based Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie (RCD-Goma) rebel movement, numerous members were “expelled from the RCD and accused of desertion, high treason and political wandering,” rebel-controlled RTNC radio reported Saturday. Speaking to reporters, RCD President Adolphe Onusumba Yemba said it was “normal for us to punish those who are found not to have a fixed stand regarding the battle we are in the process of undertaking, and who differ with the ideals that are dear and close to our movement.” The expelled members include Jim Balikwisha, Deogratias Bugera, Jacques Depelchin, Joseph Bonunke Edundo, Shambu Kalala, Chalumba Kalenga, Bayekwa Kambale, Roger Lumbala, Bolulu Lunda, Mbusa Nyamwisi, Etienne Ngangura, Odoi Nyangi, Epungu Ssesanga, Polei Siwako, Alexis Thambwe Mwamba, Ernest Wamba Dia Wamba and Alphaeus Ngoma Zaidi.
