Rebel group “strongly denounces violations” by Kinshasa

The Goma-based Rwandan-backed rebel Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie (RCD-Goma) on Friday “strongly denounce[d] the violations of the Kinshasa regime” with regard to alleged violations of the Lusaka peace agreement, rebel-controlled RTNC radio reported Saturday. In a statement read by Kin Kiey Mulumba, head of the RCD communication and culture department, the RCD accused the Kabila government of ordering “the reactivation of its armies, mainly the FAC [Forces armees congolaises - Congolese Armed Forces], Interahamwe [Rwandan Hutu militia] and Zimbabwean soldiers,” as well as rebels from Burundi. “Mr Joseph Kabila continues with his media misinformation campaign. He has gone as far as publicly denying the relations that his regime has with the negative forces...,” Mulumba stated before elaborating on an array of specific cases the RCD alleges to have occurred.
