WFP reports continuing rebel activity

In its weekly situation report, WFP said rebels and Burundi army forces had clashed in the week to 20 August in Rutana, Ruyigi and Bujumbura Rural provinces. Properties had been looted and people killed. It said it had supplied over 1,500 mt of food to more than 270,000 targeted people in the regroupment sites of Bujumbura Rural province and the drought-affected province of Kirundo and organised field visits to Mutimbuzi, Kanyosha and Isale communes. These visits had monitored the progress of the dismantling of regroupment sites and possible effects on the food security situation. The report added that eight nutritional centres in Muyinga, Kirundo and Ngozi provinces had also been visited.
