Pre-dialogue meeting postponed

Preparatory talks scheduled for 16 July ahead of the inter-Congolese dialogue have been postponed, diplomatic sources told IRIN on Tuesday. The decision was taken to allow for completion of the selection of representatives from remaining provinces in government-held areas of the DRC. An official announcement is expected to be made in Lusaka, Zambia on Wednesday by Sir Ketumile Masire, Facilitator of the inter-Congolese dialogue, who is currently attending the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) summit. A new date for the preparatory talks will be included in the announcement, but at least “a couple of weeks more” are needed to complete the selection process, the source told IRIN.
