President repeats pardon offer

The Angolan president Jose Eduardo dos Santos has repeated that he was willing to pardon the leader of the UNITA rebel movement, Jonas Savimbi if he publicly expressed regret, Angolan news reports said on Tuesday. The Angolan head of state, who was interviewed by the local press on the occasion of his 58th birthday, said that Angola was a country which needed to bring together “all the talents of its sons without excluding Jonas Savimbi”. “When we have been totally reconciled we shall not spare our energies to resolve secondary problems,” he said.
