South Kivu delegates chosen for dialogue

Civil society organisations in the province of South Kivu on Friday selected five delegates to represent them in the inter-Congolese dialogue, according to the office of the dialogue facilitator, former Botswana President Ketumile Masire. The five selected were traditional chief Mwami Kabare Rugenaninzi II of the Bahami community; Aurelie Bitondo, a representative of women’s organisations; Pastor Jean Luc Kuye-Dondo, chosen from religious groups; and Enock Ruberangabo and Gervais Chiralwirwa, civil society representatives from the town of Bukavu, Masire’s office reported on Saturday. Chiralwirwa was chosen by consensus to represent South Kivu Province in the preparatory committee of the inter-Congolese dialogue to be held on 16 July in Botswana. Meanwhile, a delegation from Masire’s currently conducting a supervisory mission of representative selection was due to arrive in Katanga Province during the weekend to conduct a similar electoral exercise. On 13 June, the first two delegates for the inter-Congolese dialogue were chosen in Goma, North Kivu.
