Mbeki to hold talks with Mugabe

South Africa’s President Thabo Mbeki on Wednesday said he would meet his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe again soon to discuss issues identified in inter-ministerial meetings between the two governments, IOL reported. Mbeki told the South African parliament that the solution to Zimbabwe’s problems would take “some time”, as they had accumulated over a century. He said the description of the South African government’s approach to Zimbabwe as “quiet diplomacy” was a “perception created by someone”. “However, ultimately, it is up to the Zimbabwean people to find their own solutions.” Mbeki said his government had been encouraging interaction between the different political parties in Zimbabwe and would continue to do so.
