Mugabe accuses West of condoning DRC genocide

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Tuesday accused the global community of duplicity, saying it had condoned genocide and looting of resources from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, news reports said. Mugabe was speaking at the funeral of Defence Minister Moven Mahachi, who died over the weekend and was buried on Tuesday as a national hero. “Over the last year he (Mahachi) witnessed the duplicity of the international world which has sought to demonise Zimbabwe and her soldiers for upholding internationally recognised principles in the defence of the Democratic Republic of Congo,” Mugabe was quoted as saying. “We have the UN report to say and support this. Again, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda remain the favourites - even after this report - of the Americans and the British,” Mugabe said.
