Sudan to produce aviation fuel

Sudan would start producing aviation fuel this year at the Khartoum oil refinery, the official Sudanese news agency (Suna) said on 10 April. The announcement was made by the Sudanese minister of energy and mining, Dr Awad Ahmad Al-Jaz, in a briefing to the National Assembly. The minister informed the assembly that his ministry would also promote the “operational capacity” of Al-Ubayyid and Abu Jabrah refineries. He told the assembly there were plans to increase the “oil-pumping capacity” of the pipeline to 230,000 barrels per day (bpd), and expand the capacity of Port Sudan oil refinery to 70,000 bpd, Suna said. The pipeline was currently producing 200,000 bpd, a Sudanese official told IRIN.
