Former faction fighters called up against insurgents

    ABIDJAN
    Liberia’s authorities have been mobilising veterans of the country’s civil war in the 1990s to fight insurgents in the north, news organisations reported. Reuters reported military sources as saying that some 15,000 fighters of the now defunct National Patriotic Front of Liberia, which Charles Taylor led before being elected president in 1997, were being assembled in Monrovia.
