ZESN prepares to monitor 2002 presidential election

The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) has started working on preparations to monitor the 2002 presidential election, news reports said on Monday. Philliat Matsheza, chairperson of the ZESN board, was quoted as saying that his organisation had started educating people on such issues as voter registration. He said people should register early while those already registered should go and check their names. Matsheza said during the June 2000 parliamentary election, one in four potential voters were turned away because their names were not on the voters’ roll. He said ZESN had embarked on a campaign to educate people on better ways of conflict resolution.
