Women march for peace

Hundreds of women and schoolchildren marched through Freetown and other major towns in Sierra Leone on Saturday, demanding peace, Voice of America (VOA) reported. The rally was organised by the UN Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) and several local women’s organisations. VOA reported UNAMSIL spokeswoman Margaret Novicki as saying that women are a strong force for building peace. Women, she said, can come together in numbers and work towards a common goal and also instill values of peace, tolerance and cooperation into children.
