Army overruns rebel headquarters

The Ugandan army says it has “overrun” the general headquarters of a commander of the rebel Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). According to the semi-official ‘New Vision’ daily, Army Chief of Staff James Kazini said the attack on Abdallah Yusuf Kabanda’s headquarters took place in the Ruwenzori mountains at Kanombyo on the Uganda-DRC border. Nine rebels were killed, including an aide to Kabanda, the newspaper said. Kazini said Kabanda only had two options left. “We will either capture him alive or kill him if he does not surrender,” he said. He added that the ADF had been “reduced to less than 100”.
