Parliament to discuss transition

The Burundi parliament officially opened its April session this week with the most important item on the agenda being discussion on a framework for implementation of the Arusha peace accord, the Agence burundaise de presse (ABP) reported. It said parliamentarians would analyse and adopt various bills including constitutional arrangements for the transition. Parliamentary speaker Leonce Ngendakumana urged politicians to allow the National Assembly and the Senate to choose the transitional leaders if they were unable to do so.
