New top judge sworn in

Zimbabwe’s new most senior judge, Godfrey Chidyausiku, was sworn in as acting chief justice of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, news reports said. The new chief justice who replaced Anthony Gubbay took oath of office in front of President Robert Mugabe at the state house in the capital, Harare. Chidyausiku will serve as acting chief justice until Gubbay officially retires at the end of June. Chidyausiku has also served as a deputy minister for local government and a deputy minister for justice.
