More judges

Zimbabwe's five remaining white judges have been threatened with violence by Chenjerai Hunzvi, the leader of the country's war veterans, unless they surrender their posts immediately. The 'Calgary Herald' reported on Monday that only hours after the government agreed a truce with the embattled judiciary, Hunzvi vowed to rid the courts of all whites. He said: "We will not rest until they leave the bench and go back to Britain." The worry for the judiciary is that when President Mugabe returns from his latest trip abroad he may disown the deal reached between Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa and Chief Justice Anthony Gubbay, promising no more attacks on judges, the newspaper said.
