IOM transports 310 refugees from Katkama

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) says it has transported 310 refugees from Katkama camp in southwestern Guinea to a new site farther inland at Albadaria. In the operation, conducted over the last two days, IOM also helped deliver 400 mt of food and the same amount of non-food items - mainly timber to build emergency shelters, the organisation reported. In another operation, an IOM-chartered ship, the MV Fanta, arrived in Freetown on Thursday with 412 more Sierra Leoneans fleeing fighting in Guinea. So far, IOM has helped close to 12,000 refugees to return home.
