UN, government sign protocol on displaced people

A protocol agreement has been signed between the UN and the Burundi government aimed at establishing a framework for discussing the plight of displaced people. According to a joint press release, the protocol - signed by Human Rights Minister Eugene Nindorera and the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Burundi Georg Charpentier - will establish an open and transparent forum where the issues can be debated. The forum will define rapid response mechanisms, initiate joint missions to affected areas, and discuss issues related to the rights of displaced people.
