Lobby group supports Buyoya for transition

In a meeting on Wednesday, a lobby group, the National Convention for Peace and Reconciliation (CNPR) said it supported the suggestion that incumbent Burundi President Pierre Buyoya should lead the country’s transition. “We should look at the person who will be able to make all these reforms succeed and who will stabilise Burundi, to propel Burundi towards being a democratic and modern state, a secure and reassuring state for all citizens of this country,” CNPR chairman Augustin Nzojibwami told journalists. “For us therefore, it is clear who should lead the transition,” he said.
