World Bank to help Comoros

A delegation from the World Bank arrived in the Comoros on Thursday with a brief to stimulate development projects in the Indian Ocean archipelago, including on the separatist island of Anjouan, AFP said on Friday. An official of the local Community Support Development Fund (FADC), an independent agency chosen by the Bank to implement its aid projects in the Comoros was quoted as saying that the World Bank delegation would be heading for Anjouan on Friday. Earlier on Thursday, mediators from the OAU meeting in Moroni said they hoped to finalise a political reconciliation plan by Friday. One OAU official said they would submit the plan to separatist leaders on Anjouan on Friday or Saturday.
