Russia delays troop deployment

    ABIDJAN
    The Russian government has delayed sending its military contingent to join UN forces in Sierra Leone until the Security Council has reached a final decision regarding UNAMSIL’s mandate there, AFP reported a ministry of foreign affairs communique as saying on Friday. Russia agreed last month to send over 100 soldiers and four combat helicopters.
