Activists to protest at AIDS conference

Hundreds of activists will march on a global AIDS conference in the coastal town of Durban in South Africa on Sunday to press for cheaper drugs to fight the deadly pandemic, organisers told reporters on Wednesday. South Africa’s Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), a coalition of local AIDS groups, said the marchers would deliver a list of proposals and demands to make drugs affordable to those infected with HIV which causes AIDS. “This march will not be ordinary. It will indicate to all the delegates of the international AIDS conference that we do not expect ‘business as usual’ from this conference,” TAC said in a statement.
