“Total liberation” long way off - Kagame

President Paul Kagame has called on Rwandans to promote peace in the region. During his Liberation Day address in Kigali on Tuesday, he reiterated the government’s commitment to the Lusaka peace accord for the DRC. On the situation at home, he noted that a broad-based government was in place and general reconstruction underway in the country as a whole. “Rwandans however still have a long way to go for total liberation to be attained,” he said. “There is a need to fight ignorance, poverty, injustice and all forms of divisionism that characterised Rwanda in the past. All Rwandans outside the country should come back to join hands in the reconstruction process.” He also told Rwandans to remember those who perished in the 1994 genocide.
