Museveni on causes of Kisangani fighting

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has blamed the Kisangani fighting on the fact of “having several armies under multiple commands”. “The presence of several armies under multiple commands was an oversight that caused confusion and led to the unfortunate clashes in Kisangani,” he told a news conference on Tuesday. “But with the demilitarisation of Kisangani there will be no more trouble, that is why there are no problems in other places.” He added that the “mistakes” made in Kisangani had been “recognised and discussed and both countries have learnt lessons from the clashes”. The presidents of Uganda and Rwanda have vowed that there will be no more clashes between their troops in the DRC.
