Medical assistance for Mile 91 IDPs

A team from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) travelled to Mile 91, east of Freetown, on 23-24 June to assess the health needs of displaced people, the ICRC reported on Friday. Following the evaluation, it was decided that the SLRCS would operate a clinic for children under the age of five and run an expanded programme on immunisation (EPI) in Mile 91, the ICRC reported. The programme was due to start this week with one SLRCS health officer and three Red Cross nurses. The ICRC said it would supply the drugs needed to ensure free access to medical care during the next two months.
