Rwanda won’t leave DRC until Interahamwe go

Rwanda on Tuesday said it would not leave the DRC until the Interahamwe militia problem was solved, Rwandan radio reported. President Paul Kagame confirmed to the UK’s special representative to the Great Lakes region, Douglas Scrafton, Rwanda’s commitment to the Lusaka peace accord and pledged to withdraw all Rwandan troops in the DRC, “once Rwanda’s security concerns have been addressed”. Kagame stressed that his country’s disengagement from Congo could not be undertaken ahead of an effective solution being found to the problem of Interahamwe and ex-Rwandan Armed Forces (ex-FAR) in the DRC.
