‘Patriotic awakening’ campaign launched

The governor of Kinshasa, Theophile Mbemba Mfundu, on Monday initiated a “patriotic awakening” campaign in Kinshasa, the state-owned Congolese television reported. Mfundu said there was a need to awaken the “collective consciousness of all Congolese from all walks of life” in order to allow reconstruction and development. This patriotic awakening campaign should be for the Congolese in general, and the people of Kinshasa in particular, with a view to strengthening people’s willingness “to safeguard our independence, our sovereignty, and the integrity of our country,” Mfundu noted. “It is, therefore, the opportunity for us to awaken and to resolutely engage on the path of national reconstruction and lasting development through efficient, total and rapid development strategies for the effective participation of the people,” he added.
