Concern over restructuring army

On restructuring the national army, Defence Minister Cyrille Ndayirukiye raised several concerns, the Agence burundaise de presse reported. The army is concerned over the integration of rebel forces, and the mechanisms for implementing the integration. Ndayirukiye asked why should the issue of the armed forces be treated separately from that of other institutions. Would there not be demands for ethnic quotas in other sectors? He said that while military circles had shown a high level of understanding regarding the composition of the army, they wondered how the quotas would be calculated.
