UN envoy meets Prime Minister

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region, Berhanu Dinka, visited Kigali last week to discuss recent developments in the region with the Rwandan government, according to a statement from Dinka’s office in Nairobi, received by IRIN on Tuesday. The statement said Dinka had met Prime Minister Bernard Makuza and Minister of Foreign Affairs Andre Bumaya during his 1-4 May mission. He also met with the heads of UN agencies and several ambassadors. “All the meetings were held in an atmosphere characterised by a friendly and positive attitude,” the statement said.
