Voters must carry photo identification

Ghana’s Electoral Commission said on Monday that all voters must carry photo identification cards to be able to take part in the 7 December presidential election. Bearers of thumbprint ID cards will not be able to vote, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation reported commission chairman Kwadjo Afari-Gyan as saying. He said the commission had given ample time for all eligible voters to acquire photo IDs and that 800 camera teams have been deployed nationwide to take identity photos. Afari-Gyan also said indelible ink from India had been procured to prevent double or multiple voting.
