Delegates to meet in Arusha

The 19 signatories to the Arusha peace agreement are due to meet in the Tanzanian town of Arusha on Saturday to discuss the implementation of the accord signed on 28 August, the independent news agency Hirondelle reported on Friday. The delegates will discuss the leadership of the transition period, the cessation of hostilities, the timetable for implementing the agreement, and the return of refugees, according to Hashim Mbita, a spokesman for the mediation team. The mediator, Nelson Mandela, is expected in Arusha on Sunday and is scheduled to launch the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC), whose chairman will be announced by the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
