Taiwanese medical aid to continue

Medical cooperation between Taiwan and Senegal looks set to continue following the extension of an agreement which expired in January 2001, the official Taiwanese news agency reported on Wednesday. Taiwan signed a five-year medical agreement with Senegal in 1996 promising some US $700,000 each year. It helped Senegal build medical facilities, buy higher-quality medicine, send medical staff abroad for higher education and employ more doctors and nurses. The Senegalese Foreign Ministry in Dakar and the Republic of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have extended the cooperation agreement for another three years, the news agency reported.
