An Ethiopian woman allegedly infected with HIV/AIDS was deported from Egypt on Wednesday, AFP reported. The woman, identified only as Jamila M, was flown back to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, after medical tests reportedly showed her to be carrying the HIV virus, which causes AIDS, airport officials told AFP. The report did not say whether or not the tests were compulsory.
The woman had entered Egypt to work as a maid for an Egyptian family two weeks ago, said airport officials. Last week, 16 suspected female carriers of the disease working as maids in Egypt were deported, Egyptian newspapers reported.
