Poor AIDS action "sad and unfortunate" - ILO

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) says not enough is being done to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on Africa's workforce. At the recent ILO International Labour Conference in Geneva, director-general Juan Somavia described the situation as "sad and unfortunate", noting that two thirds of those living with the virus in Africa were workers. He said the ILO chose to focus its attention on the plight of HIV positive employees, given the acute lack of adequate AIDS workplace programmes on the continent.
