World Vision properties looted

Property belonging to World Vision (WV) was looted during the latest round of fighting between rebels and government troops in Bomi county, Liberia, the NGO reported on Thursday. Four motor cycles, 14 bicycles, 90 gallons of gasoline, 80 gallons of fuel, assorted vehicle spare parts, mattresses, and other items were looted from a warehouse in Tubmanburg. The organisation did not mention who stole the items. Meanwhile WV treated 2193 displaced people suffering from malaria, acute respiratory infections, diarrhoea and skin diseases at two temporary clinics set up at the VOA Refugee camp and Ricks Institute campus, near the capital Monrovia, this week. Some 10,000 displaced people have temporarily sheltered in the two camps since fleeing fighting at Klay, 35 km northwest of Monrovia, WV said. WV has also established two immunisation centres in the camps to treat six childhood diseases: measles, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, diphtheria and tuberculosis, with funding from UNICEF.
