Olomoro oil facility closed after attack

The Olomoro and the neighbouring Owhe crude oil production facilities, in southern Nigeria, were temporarily closed on Thursday after youths attacked installations at Olomoro, local sources confirmed to IRIN on Friday. The youths were reportedly trying to shut the Olomoro facility - which belongs to Shell - during a protest, but "accidentally" set off an explosion there on Thursday morning, a source said, adding that one Shell worker was injured. He quoted police sources in the southern town of Warri as saying 37 youths had been arrested in connection with the attack.
