Police beef up security in Kaduna State

Police in the northern Nigerian state of Kaduna said on Thursday that security had been tightened following fears of a spillover of violence from neighbouring Plateau State, 'The Guardian' newspaper reported. "The command is using this medium to reassure all residents that steps have been taken to forestall any overflow effect of the Jos crises to Kaduna State," Tam Nanakumo, deputy commissioner of police, said in a statement. Combined teams of armed soldiers and police have been patrolling the streets of Kaduna to prevent any outbreak of violence, the daily reported.
