Italian food aid arrives

Food donated by the Italian government has arrived at the port of Massawa, the Italian Embassy in Eritrea announced, the government-owned Voice of the Masses radio reported on Tuesday. The 11,175 mt of grain is intended for war-displaced and drought victims. The embassy said the assistance was in response to an appeal by the Eritrean Commission for Relief and Refugees to the international community. According to the radio, an Italian team of experts is in Asmara to see how best an additional US $9 million-worth of relief food to be donated this year could be utilised.
