Rights groups in Swaziland challenge king

Human rights groups in Swaziland are seeking ways to challenge a controversial decree by King Mswati III which enabled the government to ban any book, magazine or newspaper without providing reasons, Channel Africa reported on Tuesday. In terms of the decree announced at the weekend, no person or body, including the courts, shall have the power to challenge any matter pending before the king. Joshua Mzizi of the Human Rights Association of Swaziland said the organisation would seek legal advice on the issue, while South Africa’s labour federation, Cosatu, has called for the Swazi regime to be isolated.
