UNITA rebel wounded by Zambian forces

A suspected UNITA rebel has been shot and wounded by Zambian troops on the border with Angola, AFP reported on Wednesday. According to the report four suspected rebels escaped, but the wounded man was apprehended. The report said that the rebels had crossed over into northwestern Zambia on Monday and had tried to abduct a woman from a local village. The Zambian government has in recent months sent more troops into Zambia’s northwest, where suspected UNITA rebels have been staging ongoing attacks on local villages.
