The Anambra State Vigilance Service, also know as the Bakassi Boys, will continue to receive state funding as long as it operates within the law, Anambra Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju has said. A Lagos daily, ‘The Guardian’, reported him as saying that the state House of Assembly had passed a law regulating the activities of the crime-fighting group.
The Bakassi Boys group was formed because at what state officials consider the federal police’s inability to deal with rising crime in the country.
