DRC involvement “collective response” - Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s Defence Minister Moven Mahachi last week said his country’s involvement in the DRC was a “collective response” to an appeal made to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) by “a member state for assistance in the face of invasion”. Zimbabwean radio quoted him as saying that the restoration of peace in the DRC should create a conducive atmosphere for the smooth implementation of the country’s democratisation process. He said the region remained hopeful that the current diplomatic efforts towards the full restoration of peace will culminate in a permanent solution to the crisis in the DRC.
