Wounded ex-ECOMOG troops receiving treatment in Egypt

At least 50 Nigerian soldiers wounded while serving in peace missions in Liberia and Sierra Leone are receiving treatment in Egypt, AFP quoted army spokesman Colonel Felix Chukwuma as saying on Thursday. He said the soldiers were being sent in batches as money is made available. None of the wounded were serving with the Nigerian contingent of the UN Mission in Sierra Leone, UNAMSIL said. Former ECOMOG troops threatened to burn their hospital unless the military took better care of their wounds or flew them overseas for treatment.
