Mozambique not ready to implement SADC protocol

Mozambican Industry and Trade Minister Carlos Morgado said this week that the country is not yet prepared to implement the South African Development Community (SADC) Trade Protocol on 1 September when it takes effect throughout the region, the Maputo daily ‘Noticias’ said on Friday. Morgado was quoted as saying that Mozambique expected to be ready to implement the protocol only as from the first quarter of 2001. The Windhoek summit gave a six-month moratorium for some of the countries to prepare for the implementation of the protocol.
