UNHCR plans to launch major repatriation soon
Up to 29 people were killed in fresh violence on Sunday and Monday in the rebel-held east of DRC, witnesses told a human rights group on Monday. A member of the Goma-based Congolese human rights group (CREDHO), Charles Mukandirwa, told Reuters: "We visited the site and saw the bodies, some of them were burned, some of them had been cut up with knives and machetes." Congolese rebels backed by Rwanda occupy vast areas of eastern Congo where they are fighting different militia groups. Massive human rights violations have been reported in the rebel-held territory in the past two years.
