IMF, World Bank approves US $800 million debt relief package

    ABIDJAN
    Senegal is to get US $800 million as a debt relief package from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, under the enhanced Heavily Indebted Poor Countries initiative. The IMF said the money, to be disbursed by the World Bank’s International Development Association, will start providing interim debt relief on 1 July, “once satisfactory assurances have been obtained from Senegal’s other creditors”.
