African bank loans US $ 13.20 million for rural development

Guinea will get an African Development Bank loan of some US $13.20 million for food security and poverty reduction projects in rural areas, the pan-African institution said. The project - aimed at rural communities in Upper Guinea - will develop 1,760 hectares of irrigated plains, 1,050 ha of cashew trees and reforest 420 ha of land. In addition, 336 km of roads will be rehabilitated and 424 km of feeder roads maintained. The loan, approved on Friday, is repayable over 50 years after a 10-year grace period.
