Rebels release British aid worker

    ABIDJAN
    Revolutionary United Front rebels have released British aid worker Alan Smith, 55, captured on 9 May, according to news reports. His release leaves just one other Briton, Major Andrew Harrison, detained. Reuters reported on Monday that Harrison, a UN military observer, had been handed over to an Indian UN contingent which, in turn, had been surrounded by RUF fighters in the east of the country.
