Chiluba condemns Bemba

Zambian President Frederick Chiluba on Monday condemned the rebel Mouvement de liberation du Congo (MLC) and its leader Jean-Pierre Bemba for failing to respect the ceasefire signed in Lusaka last August. "The Lusaka ceasefire agreement has been respected by everybody apart from the MLC and its leader Bemba," AFP quoted Chiluba as saying on state television on Monday. "Chairman Bemba deserves to be condemned," he added. Chiluba was speaking after a meeting with DRC President Laurent-Desire Kabila in Lubumbashi.
