Food aid from Japan

Japan is to provide Niger with food aid, in the form of rice, worth 360 million yen (about US $3.4 million) under an agreement signed in Niamey on Monday by representatives of the two governments. The grant brings total Japanese donations to Niger since 1976 to 40,783 million yen (about US $390 million at today's exchange rate), according to a communique from the Japanese Embassy in Abidjan, which also covers Niger.
